The beta for LDS.ORG is now live. We will continue to ship new features as we work out the kinks in preparation for a launch later this year. In the meantime, we welcome you to try it out and offer feedback.
Noticed that in the leadership listing in the directory, it doesn't show the Ward Mission Leader. Being one, thought it might a little important to have that. Otherwise, I like the improvements.
Where's the navigation? There isn't any clear hierarchy of information or links. I'm forced to stare at the pages searching for where I can navigate to. And aesthetically, it's not pleasing, slick, or even very professional looking. The rainbow-like backgrounds have got to go, or the entire site would have to change to make them work. That aesthetic can work on sony.com, but you're dealing with a VERY different style altogether.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Hope you're enjoying some of the new site features. We're getting great feedback.
Please realize that the home page you see now isn't what the new LDS.ORG home page would look like. It's just a place we can use to communicate what features are new and what is coming.
I think it will be a few months before we have a cut at what the actual home page would look look like. We'll keep improving and changing based on your feedback.
I didn't see cub scout leadership listed in Primary or Boy Scout sections of the Ward Leadership section in the directory- it might be worth adding them as well. (Of course I'm biased since I am currently a cubmaster).
Great Work! Hope the smart phone version is coming soon - barely workable on Droid. As a Ward Exc. Sec. this has the potential to really make my job easier when I can use my phone. Please keep up the good work. Steve in NC
Looks pretty awesome so far! I'll try to dig through it and provide some more feedback soon.
ReplyDeleteHoping I misunderstand, but here's a big vote for not having a login as the first thing that greets the user.
ReplyDeleteCould it be like a bank website that has the field on the first page, but lets me drop into unpersonalized content without a login?
The directory and calendar look so fast and very slick. As long as the final versions allow exports, I'm going to be a big fan.
Looks nice. Just a heads up -- doesn't render properly on an iPod touch / iPhone.
ReplyDeleteI like the Conference study pages and the ability to self update personal and family profiles on the membership list.
ReplyDeleteLooks great. The ability to list separate phone numbers for household members is great.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see an export function. Is that going away? I use that frequently to sync contacts with PDA's, etc.

ReplyDeleteWhy mess with a good thing?
ReplyDeleteReally liking it so far, Joel. Many more features on the Ward & Stake maps than expected -- nice work.
ReplyDeletecouldn't log in off site?

ReplyDeleteIs there smartphone versions of scriptures, etc. that will work on a samsung mythic available? the pdf of holy bible was too large a file.
ReplyDeleteThe Bible pdf available at pdf.lds.org is 36MB, and the Triple is 23MB; doesn't the Mythic accomodate a 32GB microSD card?
ReplyDeleteGreat Work!

Can you tell me about the decision made that police officers can not be bishops?
